The system allows an intercom call between two handsets registered to the same
telephone base.
To initiate an int ercom call:
1.Pr ess .
If your t elephone system has only two handsets registered, the intercom call will be
automat ically direct ed to the ot her system handset.
If your t elephone system has more than two handsets registered, enter the handset
number you want to call by using the dial pad 1-5.
2.Pr ess to answer the intercom call on the other handset.
3.To end t he i ntercom call, press .
NOT ES:
1)The intercom call can be canceled before it is answer ed by press ing or on
the originating handset.
2)If the handset being called does not answer within one minute, the paging will be
canceled.
To answer an incoming call d u ring intercom
You will hear an alert tone when you receive an incoming call during interc om.
Press to answer the incom ing call and end t he int ercom.
Press to answer the incom ing call and put the intercom on hold. Press and hold
t o sw itch between intercom and the i ncoming call.
Press and hold to conferenc e with bot h the incoming call and the intercom.

You can intercom with another syst em handset during a call, or invit e another system
handset to join.

the originating handset.
3.You can choose fr om one of the following options for this i ntercom call.
Press and hold to connect both handsets to the call.
Press on the originating handset to alternate between the intercom and the call.
Press on either handset to terminat e t he intercom on that handset. T he call will
continue on the other handset.
Push to tal k (P TT) (only appli cabl e for model s with mul ti ple handsets )
You can directly broadcast messages to the speakerphone of any registered handset in
the syst em. If your t elephone system has more than two handsets:
1.Pr ess / to select the handset you want to broadcast the message to, or
select ALL HANDS ET to broadc ast to all handset s and t hen press .
2.PRE SS AND HOLD [P TT] T O T ALK shows on the sc reen when the connect ion is set
between the initiating handset and the destination handset.
3.Pr ess and hold the butt on on either handset to start the broadcast .
NOTE: Connection set between handsets lasts for 30 minut es after it is est ablished, or
30 minutes after the last broadcast. You will need to perform the above operation again if
you want to initiate a P TT to another syst em handset or after the 30-minute tim e out.

Add a phonebook record

Using Caller ID service
IMP ORTANT : To use the Caller-ID capabilities of this telephone system, you must
subscr ibe to Caller-ID services fr om your service provider. Check with your t elephone
servic e provider for details. Your telephone stores caller ID memory for the 40 m ost
recent calls. Each entry holds up to 20 digits for the telephone number and 14 charact ers
for the name.

As calls are received and stored, the display is updated to let you know new calls have

Troubleshooting guide
If your t elephone system is not operating properly, first try this general reset procedures:
1.Unplug all power adapters from the power out lets.
2.Disc onnect the telephone line cor d from the base or modular jack.
3.Remov e the bat tery compar tment covers and unplug all handset battery packs.
4.Af ter a few minutes, re-install all handset battery packs, making sure that the
connect ors are snug and the wires are not pinched bef ore replacing all batt ery
compart ment covers.
5.Plug the power adapters for the base and any chargers back into their power out lets.
Be sure not to use out lets that are controlled by wall swit ches or timers.
6.Plac e all handsets i n the telephone base or charger s to charge without interrupt ion f or
at least 30 minutes before use.
7.Plug the line cord i nto t he telephone base or modular jack and ver ify operation.
Genera l Produc t Care
Avoid dropping the handset, as well as other rough treatm ent to the phone. Clean the
phone only wit h a dry soft cloth. Never use cleaning agent s, paint thinner, abrasive
powder, alcohol, or other chemical products to clean the unit. Doing so will damage the
unit. Retain the original packaging in case you need to ship the phone at a later date.

Some of the following informat ion may not apply to your partic ular product; however,
when using t elephone equipment, basic safet y precautions should always be f ollowed to
reduce the risk of fire, elect ric shock and injury to pers ons, including the following:
1.Read and understand all instr uctions.
2.Follow all warnings and instr uctions mark ed on the product .
3.Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or
aerosol cleaners. Use a damp clot h for cleaning.
4.Telephones should not be used while you are in a bathtub, shower or pool. Immersion
of the telephone or handset in water could cause an elect rical shock.
5.Slot s and openings in the cabinet back or bott om are provided for ventilation, to protect
it from overheating. Do not block or cover thes e openings. Do not block t he openings by
placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or ot her similar surface. Do not place this product
in a built- in inst allation unless proper ventilat ion is provided.
6.Only operate this product from the type of power source indicated on the marking label.
If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer or local
power company.
7.Plug the adapter into an easily accessible electric al outlet near t he equipment.
8.Do not allow anyt hing to rest on t he power cord. Do not locat e this product where the
cord will be abused by persons walking on it.
9.Do not overload wall outlet s and ext ension cords as this can result in the risk of fire or
electr ic shock.
10. Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots as they may
touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a risk of f ire or
electr ic shock.
11. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product .
12.To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disass emble this product. Opening or
removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect
reassem bly can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used.
13. Do not expos e the produc t to extreme temper atures such as areas near a hot
radiator , stove or in a hot car. Do not place product upon other consum er electronic
product s such as; computer monit ors, power amplifiers , etc.

19. Under the following conditions, unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer

A.The power supply cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
B.The product has been exposed t o rain or water.
C.The product does not operate normally by following t he operating instruct ions.
D.The product's cabinet has been dam aged.
E.The product exhibits a distinct change in perf ormanc e.
20. Avoid using a telephone during an electrical-s torm. There may be a remote risk of
electr ic shock from lightning.
21. Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of t he leak.
22. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The product may fall,
causing serious damage to the product.
23. Only use at tachm ents/ access ories specified by the manufact urer.
24. Unplug this apparatus during lightning st orms or when unused for long periods of

IF YOUR PRODUCT UTILIZES BATTERIES , THE FOLLOWING ADDI TIONAL
PRECAUT ION S SHO ULD BE O BSERVED:
1.Use only the type and siz e battery( ies) specified in t he user's manual.
2.Do not use this product if the battery door is removed or missing.
3.Replace batt eries that appear to be swollen or have damaged wiring.
4.Do not dispose of the battery( ies) in fir e. They may explode. Check with local codes for
possible special disposal instruc tions.
5.Do not open or mut ilate the battery (ies). Released electroly te is corrosive and may
cause damage to the eyes or sk in. It may be toxic if swallowed.
6.Ex ercise care in handling batt ery(ies) i n order not to short out the battery (ies) with
conduct ing m aterials such as rings, bracelets , and key s. The bat tery( ies) or conductor
may overheat and cause burns.
7.Do not attem pt to recharge the battery (ies) provided with or ident ified for use with this
product that are not rechargeable. The bat tery( ies) may leak cor rosive electroly te or
explode.
8.Do not attem pt to rejuvenate the batt ery(ies) provided with or identified for use with this
product by heating them . Sudden release of t he battery( ies) electrolyt e may occur
causing burns or irritation to eyes or sk in.
9.When replacing battery (ies), all batt eries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing
fres h and discharged batt eries could i ncrease internal cell pressur e and ruptur e t he
discharged batt ery(ies) . (Applies to products employing more t han one separat ely
replaceable primary battery. )
10. When inser ting batter y(ies) into this product , the proper polarity or direction must be
observed. Reverse insertion of battery (ies) may result in leakage or explosion.
11. When inser ting batter y(ies) into this product , do not twist or pinch the wires or allow
wires to become pinched in batt ery door.
12. If st oring over 30 days, remove battery( ies) from this product because t he battery(ies )
could leak and damage the product.
13. Discard “dead” batter y(ies) as soon as possible since “dead” batter ies are mor e likely
to leak in a product.
14. Do not st ore this product, or t he battery( ies) provided with or identif ied for use wit h
this product , in high-temperat ure areas. Batt eries that are stored in a freezer or
refr igerator for the purpose of extending shelf life should be prot ected from condensation
during storage and defrosting. Batt eries should be stabiliz ed at room temperatur e prior t o
use after cold storage.
15. If your product uses rec hargeable battery( ies), charge the battery (ies) only in
accordanc e with the instruct ions and limit ation specif ied in the user's guide.
16. Batt ery safet y precautions
Do not burn, disassemble, mutilate, or punct ure. Like other batt eries of this type, tox ic
mater ials could be released which might cause injury to pers ons or proper ty damage.
To reduc e the ris k of fire or personal injury, use only the supplied battery or replacement
ba ttery.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
Remove batt eries if storing over 30 days .
Use only the supplied rechargeable battery or replacement batt ery.

Guarantee
SWITEL equipment is produced and t ested according to the latest production methods.
The i mplementat ion of car efully chosen mater ials and highly developed technologies
ensure trouble-f ree functioning and a long service life. T he term s of guarantee do not
apply where the caus e of equipment malfunct ion is the fault of the t elephone network
operator or any interposed privat e branch ext ension syst em. The t erms of guarantee do
not apply to the batteries or power pack s used in the products . The period of guarantee
is 24 mont hs from the date of purchase. All deficiencies related to mater ial or
manufac turing errors within the period of guarantee will be redressed free of charge.
Rights to claims under the term s of guarantee are annulled following tamper ing by the
purchaser or thir d part ies. Damage caused as the result of improper handling or
operation, normal wear and tear, incorrec t positioning or storage, improper connection or
installat ion or Ac ts of God and other external influences are excluded from the term s of
guarantee. In the case of complaints, we reserv e the right to repair def ect parts, replace
them or replace the entire device. Replaced parts or devices become our property.
Rights to compensat ion in the case of damage are exc luded where there is no evidence
of intent or gross negligence by t he manufactur er.I f your device does show signs of a
defect within the period of guarantee, please contact the sales outlet where you
purchased the SWITEL device, producing the purc hase receipt as evidence. All claims
under the terms of guarantee in accordance with this agreement can only be asser ted at
the sales outlet. No claims under the term s of guarantee can be assert ed after a period
of two years from the date of purchase and hand-ov er of t he product.
Disposal
In order to dispose of your device, take it to a collec tion point provided by your
local public waste authorities (e.g. recycling centre). According to laws on the
disposal of electronic and electr ical devices, owners are obliged t o dispos e of
old electronic and electrical devices in a separate waste container. The
sym bol indicat es that the device must not be disposed of in norm al domestic
waste!
Batteri es represent a hazard to health and the en vironmen t!
Never open, damage or swallow batt eries or allow them to pollut e the
environment . They may contain toxic, ecologically hazardous heavy metals . You
are legally obliged to dispose of power packs and batt eries at the point of sale
or in t he corresponding containers at collec tion points provided by local public
