Introduction
CAUTION: When using telephone equipment, there are basic safety instr uctions that
should always be f ollowed. Refer to the Import ant safet y instruct ions section in this user's
guide for more information.
IMP ORTANT : Since cordless phones operat e on electr icity, you are suggested to have
at least one phone in your home t hat is not cordless, in case of power outage.

Avoid sources of noise and heat, such as motors, fluorescent lighting, microwave ovens,
heating appliances and direct sunlight.
Avoid areas of excessiv e dust , moist ure and low temperat ure.
Avoid other cordless telephones or pers onal com puters.
Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for
wet locations.
Never touch non-insulat ed telephone wires or ter minals, unless t he telephone line has
been disconnected at the network interf ace.
Use caution when installing or m odifying telephone lines.
Telephone base and charger install ation
1.Plug the smaller end of the power adapter into the power jack at the bot tom of the
telephone base.
2.Plug one end of the telephone line into t he j ack at the bottom of the telephone base.
3.Plug the other end of the telephone line into a t elephone wall jack.
4.Plug the larger end of the power adapter into an electrical outlet not
contr olled by a wall sw itch. If you have DSL high speed I nternet service, a DSL filt er is
required (not included). Contact your DSL serv ice provider for more information about
DSL filter .
CAUTION: Use only the power adaptor that came with this unit. (Telephone
base:TENP AO-S003I V0600050 or ES L-IA5060G(6V dc/500m A), charger:
TENPAO-S 003IV0600015 or ESL-IA 1560G(6Vdc/150m A). Using other power adapters
may damage the unit. Contact your local dist ributor if you need t o order replac ement for
the power adapters.

Telephone jack requirements
To use this phone, you need a RJ11C ty pe modular t elephone jack, which might look like
the one pictured here, installed in your home. If you do not have a modular jack, call your
local phone com pany to find out how to have one inst alled.
CAUTION:
1.Use only the power adapter that came with this unit. Using other power adapt ers may
damage the unit.
2.To prevent fire or electrical shock hazard, do not expose this product to rain or
moistu re.
Batte ry insta ll ati on
For optimum batter y performanc e, charge the battery for 16 hours before first use.
1.Mak e sure t he battery compart ment cover i s not att ached with the handset.
2.I nsert the AAA rechargeable batteries in the battery compartm ent, mat ching the +/-
polarity markings.
3.Align the cover against the bat tery compartment and slide it upwards until it clicks into
place.
4.Charge the handset by placing it in the telephone base or charger. The light on the
handset is on when charging.
CAUTION:
1.To reduce the risk of f ire or personal injury, use only the model (HIGHPOWER - HRF
AAA 400 or SA NIK- SN AA A40H, 400mA 1.2V Ni-MH) which is co mpatible with this unit.
2. If the handset will not be used for an extended period of time, unplug the bat teries and
remove them from the handset to prevent possible leakage.
Battery safety - CAUTION
ONLY use the rec hargeable batteries supplied with the handset. DO NO T use
non-rechargeable batt eries - they may explode and cause damage to your t elephone.
ECO Mode
Both in Call mode as well as in Standby mode, the radiation is reduced considerably as
compared to standar d, cordless DECT telephones.

Recall time

Blo ck list
You can program telephone numbers into the block list so that the telephone silences
when a call is received from one of the block ed numbers. The handset shows BLOCK
LIST when the programmed numbers call and will not record the number in the caller ID
histor y.

Do not dist urb
When DO NOT DISTURB (DND) mode is act ivated, all incom ing calls will be silent. This
feat ure only silenc es the ringer, the incoming number, if you have subsc ribed to the
caller ID service from your telephone service provider, will be recorded in the caller I D
histor y as normal.
Globa l DND
When global DND is act ivated, all sys tem handsets and the telephone base will be silent
when there is an incoming call. Press the DND button on the telephone base t o t urn this
feat ure on or off.
Handset DND
You can program individual handset to silence during predet ermined time frames . This
sett ing is independent to each handset and only silences the ringer of the handset

Telephone opera tion
Make a cal l

2.Dial the phone number after you hear the dial tone.
Predial a call
1.Dial the phone number using t he dial pad keys. If you mak e an error while dialing, you
can press to erase the last digit entered.

Answer a call
Press to answer an incoming call.
When there is an incoming call, the screen and dial pad backlight will be on.
NOTE: T he screen shows the elapsed time as you talk (in hours, minutes and seconds).
End a call
Press or place the handset in the telephone base or charger to end a call.
Speakerphone
Anyt ime during a call, press to switch between speakerphone and normal handset
use. When the speak erphone is act ive, the handset screen shows .
NOTE: Using the speakerphone will drain the battery fas ter than the normal handset
use.
Vol ume cont rol
You can adjust the volume of the handset or speak erphone anytime during a call.
On the handset , press to increase or t o decrease the volume.
NOTE: O nly t he listening volume can be adjust ed.

The l ast ten telephone numbers previously dialed are st ored in the redial list (up to 24
digits each).

The mute function allows you to turn off the microphone while on a call. You can hear the
other party but t he ot her party cannot hear you.

Call w aiting or call waiting with cal ler ID service
To use call waiting, you must subscribe to call wait ing service from your telephone
serv ice provider. This feature allows you to receive calls while you are already talking on
the phone. You will hear a call waiting alert tone when there is a second incoming call. If
you subscribe to bot h caller I D and call waiting with caller ID services, the second caller's
inform ation is displayed after you hear the call waiting alert tone.

Voice mail service
The icon flashes on the scr een when you have received a new voice mail message
from your service provider.
IMP ORTANT : Voice mail service is differ ent from the answering syst em. In order to use
the voice mail service, you must subscribe to it from your t elephone service provider.

The sy stem allows a maximum of two handset s to have a convers ation with an outs ide
call at a tim e. If a handset is already on a call and you would like to join the call, press
on another handset.
The call will not be ter minated until all handset s hang up.

You can locate a mis placed handset by paging it.
