Precautions
On safety
• Should any solid object or liquid fall into
the cabinet, unplug the receiver and
have it checked by qualified personnel
before operating it any further.
• To prevent fire, do not cover the
ventilation of the receiver with
newspapers, table cloths, curtains, etc.
And don’t place lighted candles on the
receiver.
• To prevent fire or shock hazards, do not
place vases on the receiver.
On power sources
• Before operating the receiver, check that
the operating voltage is identical with
your local power supply. The operating
voltage is indicated on the nameplate at
the rear of the receiver.
• The unit is not disconnected from the AC
power source (mains) as long as it is
connected to the wall outlet, even if the
unit itself has been turned off.
• If you are not going to use the receiver
for a long time, be sure to disconnect the
receiver from the wall outlet. To
disconnect the AC power cord, grasp the
plug itself; never pull the cord.
• AC power cord must be changed only at
the qualified service shop.
On placement
• Place the receiver in a location with
adequate ventilation to prevent heat
buildup and prolong the life of the
receiver.
• Do not place the receiver near heat
sources, or in a place subject to direct
sunlight, excessive dust or mechanical
shock.
• Do not place anything on top of the
cabinet that might block the ventilation
holes and cause malfunctions.
• Although the receiver heats up during
operation, this is not a malfunction. If
you continuously use this receiver at a
large volume, the cabinet temperature of
the top, side and bottom rises
accordingly. To avoid burning yourself,
do not touch the cabinet.
On operation
Before connecting other components, be
sure to turn off and unplug the receiver.
On cleaning
Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a
soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild
detergent solution. Do not use any type of
abrasive pad, scouring powder or solvent
such as alcohol or benzine.
If you have any question or problem
concerning your receiver, please
consult your nearest Sony dealer.
WARNING
To prevent fire or shock

unit to rain or moisture.
To avoid electrical shock,
do not open the cabinet.
Refer servicing to qualified
personnel only.
Do not install the
appliance in a confined
space, such as a bookcase
or built-in cabinet.

  • Ik krijg het apparaat niet uit de protectstand . Kan iemand mij misschien vertellen hoe ik dat kan doen? Bvd dank ps ik heb deze vraag al vaker gezien maar kan nergens het antwoord vinden Gesteld op 11-8-2013 om 14:16

    • Sinds gisteren heb ik zo'n zelfde receiver met het beschreven probleem.
      Probeer onderstaande oplossing eens die ik vond op een engelse site.

      Hi,
      I have a Sony FM Stereo Receiver that is set up to be tied into our Comcast universal remote. The unit goes into protect mode after power outages and occasionally when turning the universal remote on or off.

      The manual has no instructions how to take this out of protect mode. I usually have to disconnect the power cord from surge protector, reconnect, manually turn power on and then fiddle with buttons forever and a day to get the unit out of protect mode.

      I’m pretty fed up with the time spent trying to get the unit out of protect mode. Anyone know what steps to take to get this out of protect mode so I don’t junk a perfectly good receiver?

      First, understand the the "Protect" mode is there to save you from damaging the receiver. I know that it is frustrating to perform the circus act that you are doing to get the receiver to work but it is telling you that something is wrong.

      That being said, the most common cause of the "Protect" mode is a problem with the speakers or the wiring to them. Check all the speaker wire connections at the receiver and at the speakers to make sure that there are no loose strands of speaker wire that are touching each other or touching the chassis of the receiver. If that is OK, next try eliminating each speaker one at a time by disconnecting it from the receiver (do this with the receiver turned off each time). A blown speaker can cause the "Protect" error.

      The fact that this problem started occurring after a power outage may also be indicative of a blown output channel on your receiver. If this is the case you will need to bring the receiver in for an estimate of repairs.

      Start with checking the wiring and the speakers and post back so we can go from there.

  • als je de reciever aanzet met de ab en met de hand dan springt hij na ongeveer vij a tien minuten in de protect stand dan reageert niet op de comandoos van ab en manuele bediening kunt u mijn probleem oplossen bvd hclange Gesteld op 30-4-2010 om 14:54
