PS-LX5BT and PS-LX3BT have different headshell shapes, but the operating pr ocedure is the same.

Do not install the pr oduct in a confined spac e, such
as a bookcase or built -in cabinet.
T o reduc e the risk of fire, do not cover the ventila tion
opening of the unit with newspapers, tablecloths,
curtains, etc. Do not expose the unit to nak ed flame

The AC adapt or is not disconnect ed from the A C
power sourc e (mains) as long as it is connecte d to
the wall outlet, even if the unit itself has been turned
off.
As the main plug of the AC adapt or is used to
disconnect the A C adaptor fr om the mains, connect
it to an easily acc essible A C outlet. Should you notice
an abnormality in it, disconnect it from the AC outle t
immediately .

Y ou can check the firmwar e version of your turntable
on the computer . When a firmwar e update is
available, it will be provided on the Sony Support
P age. Download it to perform the update.

Place the platt er on the spindle while you are
assembling your turntable. It has a drive belt
wound around on the back side.

GAIN SELECT switch
Adjusts the playback volume to compensa te for
differenc es in volume levels recorde d on vinyl
rec ords. For vinyl r ecor ds at low volume, move
this switch to the HIGH position to adjust the
playback volume to an appropria te level. For vinyl
rec ords at high volume , playback with the switch
in the HIGH position may cause distortion in
sound. Change the switch position to match the
vinyl rec ord.
This volume adjustment is effective when the
OUTPUT SELECT switch is in the LINE position,
and applies to the audio output and BLUET OOTH
playback. It is disabled when the OUTPUT SELECT
switch is in the PHONO position.

Note on c arrying your turntable
When carrying the turntable, make sure that you
hold it firmly at the bottom and sides as illustr ated
below . Inappr opriate handling may cause the
turntable to fall, resulting in malfunctions or injury .

Place the 45rpm adapt or on the spindle to play a
7 -inch (17 cm) vinyl rec ord (EP r ecor d).

Note
Keep the pack aging materials in case you nee d to
transport your turntable for r epair.
Assembling the T urnt able
Note
Place your turntable on a stable , level sur fac e.
1 Plac e the platter on the spindle.

2 T urn the platter to the position wher e you
can see the mot or pulley through the
rect angular hole with the red ribbon ends
taped on the platter .

3 P eel off the adhesive tape, pull and hold
the red ribbon, and then hook the drive
belt around the mo tor pulley .
Note
• Be careful no t to twist the drive belt.
• If the drive belt comes off the inner ring of the
platter during installation, remove the platt er ,
turn it upside down, and rewrap the drive belt
around the out cir cumferenc e of the inner ring.
Then, restart the procedur e from the beginning.
• Be sure to r emove the red ribbon after you
place the drive belt ar ound the motor pulley .
4 Place the mat f or the platter ont o the
platter .
If the mat has a rec essed area in the cent er , place
it with that side facing up.
5 Unlock the tone arm by r eleasing the tone
arm lock.

6 Pr ess the UP/DOWN button to lift the t one
arm and ro tate the pla tter 10 times to
initialize the oper ating mechanism.
Note
Be careful no t to bump your hand against the
tone arm while ro tating.
After ro tating the platter , press the UP/DOWN
button to lower the tone arm.
7 Insert the dust cover hinges to the hinge
pockets on the dust c over .

8 Attach the dust cover to your turntable.
Note
Before moving your turnt able after assembly , ensure
the following:
• Attach the stylus pro tective cover .
• Remove the platter .
• Secure the t one arm with the tone arm lock.

1 Use the audio cable t o connect your
turntable and the PHONO input jack or
LINE/AUX input jack on the ster eo system
(amplifier).
• PS-LX5BT comes with the audio cable . Use it to
connect to the audio output jack s on the back.
For PS-LX3BT , the audio cable comes out from
the back.
• Connect the whit e plug of the audio cable to
the white (L) jack, and the red plug to the re d
(R) jack.
2 Move the OUTPUT SELECT switch on the
back of your turntable to mat ch the input
jacks on the ster eo system (amplifier).

: When connecting the audio cable to the
PHONO input jacks
Move the switch to the PHONO position. The
audio signal from the MM cartridge is output
through the audio cable , bypassing the built-in
phono equalizer amplifier . The phono equalizer
amplifier of the stere o system (amplifier) is
used instead.

: When connecting the audio cable to the
LINE/AUX input jacks or similar input
Move the switch to the LINE position. The
audio signal is output through the audio cable ,
proc essed thr ough the built-in phono equaliz er
amplifier .
Note
• If using your turntable with the BLUET OOTH
connection only , ensure that the metal parts at
the ends of the audio cable do not c ome into
contact with each o ther or with metal parts of
the rack or o ther devices. Move the OUTPUT
SELECT switch t o the LINE position before use .
• When connecting to the PHONO input jack s of
the stere o system (amplifier), be sure to move
the OUTPUT SELECT switch t o the PHONO
position. Moving the switch to the LINE position
may cause damage to the amplifier or speak ers.
Playing a Vinyl Rec or d
Note
T urn down the volume of the stereo system
(amplifier) before playing a vin yl rec ord. When the
tone arm drops and the stylus t ouches the rec ord, a
loud noise (such as a thump) may occur , which could
cause damage to the ster eo system (amplifier) or
speakers. Adjust the volume only after the stylus has
lowered ont o the rec ord.
1 Plac e a vinyl r ecor d onto the platter .

T o play 7 -inch (17 cm) vinyl r ecords (EP
r ecor ds)
Place the supplied 45 rpm adapt or on the spindle to
play 7 -inch (17 cm) vinyl rec ords (EP r ecor ds).
When you have finished using the 45 rpm adaptor ,
keep it in its st orage hole.
2 Use the SPEED ro tary switch knob to select
the ro tation speed appr opriate for the vinyl
rec ord.
3 Use the SIZE r otary switch knob to select
the size of the vinyl r ecord.
Set it to “12” for LP re cords, or “7” for EP r ecor ds.
4 Remove the stylus pro tective c over .

Note
Remove the stylus prot ective cover with c are so
as not to damage the stylus.
5 Unlock the tone arm by r eleasing the tone
arm lock.
6 Connect the A C adaptor to a power outlet
and pres s the power
ON/ OFF button
on the back of your turntable to turn on
the turntable.
7 Pr ess the ST ART button.
Note
• Close the dust cover slowly to pr event
vibrations tha t could cause the stylus t o skip.
• During playback, keep your hands away from
the tone arm and the spinning vinyl r ecor d.
• During playback, do not move the switches on
the back of your turntable.
8 Adjust the volume using the stereo system
(amplifier).
T o stop playback
Pres s the ST OP button. The tone arm returns to the
tone arm rest. The platter stops r otating.
T o pause playback
Pres s the UP/DOWN butt on. The tone arm rises
above the vinyl rec ord. The platter ke eps rota ting.
When playback is finished
The tone arm re turns to the tone arm r est
automatically , then the platter stops ro tating.
T o play a diff erent part of the vinyl r ecor d
1 After performing st ep 6, pres s the UP/
DOWN button t o lift the tone arm.
Manually move the tone arm to the desir ed
starting position.
2 Pr ess the UP/DO WN button to lower the
tone arm.
