1. Scope
This bicycle computer has been designed for sole use as a bicycle computer.
Bicycle computers supply information about the speed and covered distanc-
es. Any other use than described in these operating instructions is not per-
mitted and can cause damage and injuries. We shall not assume liability for
damage due to improper use. You will fi nd further notes and explanations in
the operating instructions.
2. Safety and maintenance
2.1 Safety instructions
Please read this chapter carefully and comply with all given notes. This guar-
antees reliable operation and the long service life of your bicycle computer.
Please keep the packaging and the operating instructions in a safe place in
order to pass them on to a new owner should you sell the bicycle computer.
Never open the housing of the bicycle computer and the sensor, as it does
not contain any parts requiring maintenance (opening the battery compart-
ment to insert or replace the batteries, see Point 7, Battery replacement, is
the exception). Do not place any objects on the bicycle computer and do not
exert pressure on the display. This could otherwise damage the display. Do
not touch the display with square-edged objects to avoid damage.
2.2 Repairs
In case of necessary repairs or a technical problem, please consult our
Service Centre. You will fi nd the address in Point 10, Warranty provisions.
2.3 Operating environment conditions
The bicycle computer is splash water protected. Make sure your bicycle
computer is not exposed to moisture or continuous high humidity and avoid
dust, heat and extended periods of direct sunlight. Non-compliance with
these notes can cause faults or damage to the bicycle computer.
Issue 05/2009
2.4 Ambient temperature
The bicycle computer can be permanently operated and stored at ambient
temperatures of -10°C to 50°C.
2.5 Electromagnetic compatibility
If possible, do not use the bicycle computer in close proximity to, e.g. com-
puters, printers, television sets, mobile phones or radios, as devices with
strong EMC radiation can cause interference.
2.6 Battery operation
Your bicycle computer is operated by a 3V/CR2032 battery. In the following
you will fi nd a few notes on how to handle batteries:
Replace the battery only with an equivalent battery type. Batteries may not
be charged or reactivated using other means, may not be taken apart,
thrown into fi re or short-circuited. Always keep the battery out of the reach of
children. Batteries can be fatal if swallowed. Therefore, keep the battery and
the bicycle computer out of reach of small children. Seek medical assistance
immediately if a battery was swallowed. If required, use a slightly moist cloth
to clean the device and battery contacts and dry thoroughly before inserting
the batteries. Be careful with leaked batteries! Avoid contact with skin, eyes
and mucous membranes! If contact was made with battery fl uid, immediately
rinse the aff ected spot with plenty of water and consult your doctor directly.
Batteries cannot tolerate heat. Make sure to prevent the computer and its in-
serted batteries from becoming too hot. Disregarding these notes can lead
to damage and even cause the batteries to explode. Temperatures below 0 °C
can have a negative eff ect on the battery life. You will fi nd information on how
to replace the batteries in Point 7, Battery replacement.
2.7 Disposal
2.7.1 Battery disposal
Batteries are hazardous waste. To properly dispose of the batteries,
stores selling batteries and municipal collection points have provided
corresponding containers.
2.7.2 Bicycle computer disposal
If you would like to get rid of your bicycle computer, dispose of it as per
current regulations. Information can be obtained from the municipal offi ce.
2.7.3 Packaging disposal
Dispose of the bicycle computer packaging as per current regulations.
Information can be obtained from the municipal offi ce.
2.8 Maintenance
2.9 Cleaning and care
Only clean the bicycle cyclometer with a soft, moistened, lint-free cloth. Do
not use any solvents, corrosive or gaseous cleansing agents. Make sure that
water droplets do not remain on the display. Water can cause permanent dis-
colouration. Do not expose the bicycle computer display to fi erce sunlight or
ultraviolet radiation.
2.10 Storage
Remove the battery if you will not use the bicycle computer for an extended
period of time. To store the bicycle computer, please observe the notes in
Point 2.3 Operating environment conditions, and Point 2.4 Ambient tempera-
ture. The bicycle computer should be stored securely. Avoid high tempera-
tures (e.g. direct sunlight) and a permanently moist environment.
Note:Please position the bicycle computer so that it is not exposed to
extreme heat or cold. Extreme colds weakens the batteries and thus the
transmission signal. (see 2.4)
