Operation (see illustrations):
Your toaster has an extra deep toast chamber.
This enables you to toast high-sized slices just as
perfectly as smaller ones.
- Insert one or two slices of bread (fig. 1). When
inserting only one slice, place it in the middle of
the slot.
- Before switching on, select the degree of
browning (fig. 2).
• Select a lower position (i.e. 1 or 2) for light
browning, for toasting only one slice or for dry
bread.
• For medium browning set the browning
selector to position 2-5.
Depending on the type of bread, fine-tuning of
the browning setting may be required to obtain
optimum results.
• Select a higher position (i.e. 5-7) for darker
browning.
For type HD 4860 only: Select a higher position
(i.e. 5-7) for frozen bread.
(When toasting a series of slices, no re-
adjustment is required.)
• To reheat cooled-off toast set the browning
selector to position
ØØ
(fig. 3).
- Switching on. The slices are lowered into the
toaster by sliding the slide switch downwards.
The light integrated in button
ÅÅ
comes on
(fig. 4).
- When ready, the toast pops up automatically
(fig. 5) and the toaster switches off the heating
elements. The light integrated in button
ÅÅ
goes
off.
• If necessary, you can move the slide switch
upwards a little further (until it stops) (fig. 6).
This can be helpful when removing smaller
slices of bread.
• You can interrupt the process of toasting by
pressing button
ÅÅ
(fig. 7).
The slide switch is automatically released and
the light integrated in button
ÅÅ
goes off.
• Removing crumbs from the toaster:
First remove the mains plug from the wall
socket (fig. 8).
Pull out the crumb tray (fig. 9).
Do not shake the appliance upside down to
remove the crumbs.
• After use, the mains cord can be wound up for
storage (fig. 10).
To operate the appliance, plug the toaster into the
mains socket and slide the switch downwards.
Please note: The switch will only stay in the down
position if the appliance is connected to the
mains!
