Firststeps
CHARGINGTHEBATTERY
BeforeusingyourARCHOSforthefirsttime,completelychargeitsbattery.Connectthesuppliedpowercharger/adapter/USBpoweradapter.
Attention:UseONLYthesuppliedARCHOScharger/adapter/USBadapteronyourdevice.
FortheFlashMemorymodels:UseonlytheincludedUSBcabletochargeyourdevice.Donotexpectyourdevicetochargeproperlywhenconnectedtoyourcomputer.
TheARCHOSwillturnonandstartcharging.Thebatteryiconwillanimateablue“filling”actionwithalightningboltandthepower/chargeindicatorlightwillremainsolid.
Whennotpluggedintoapoweradapter,thebatteryiconwilldisplaytheamountofbatterypoweravailable.
IMPORTANT:Whenthebatteryiscompletelyemptyandyoupluginyourdevice,
Thechargingindicatorlightwillturnonthenstarttoblinkwithinfewseconds.Theindicatorlightblinkingrapidlymeansthatthedeviceischargingbutdoesnotyethave
enoughpowertostart.Thischargingwhenoffmaytakesometime.Oncethedevicehaschargedenoughtostart,itwillswitchonanddisplaytheARCHOSbootlogo.
Ifthechargingindicatordoesnotblinkafterfewseconds,itcouldmeanthatthebatteryisoverdischarged.
1.Plugoutthepowersupply.
2.Press10secondsontheOn/Offbuttonforahardwarereset.
3.Pluginthetablettothepowersupply.
Afteracertainperiod(fewminutesoronehour),thechargingindicatorstartsblinking.

foravailableWiFinetworksandshowallthewirelessnetworksinrangeofyourdevice.Thelistisrefreshed
continuously.
4.Taponthenetworkyouwanttoconnectto.Networksshownwiththeiconaresecuredconnections.
Apasswordisrequiredforasecuredconnection.Entertherequirednetworkinformation*andthentaponConnect.
YourARCHOSwillnowattempttoestablishaconnectiontothatWiFiaccesspointwiththenetworkparametersyou
entered.
*ForfreeaccessWiFipoints,thereisnoneedtoenteranyspecialinformation.Forsecurednetworks,youwillneed
eitherakey(aseriesofnumbersand/orletters)ofthetypeWEP,WPA,orWPA2,oryouwillneedtohaveaWiFi
accesspointthatusestheWiFiprotectionstandardWPS(WiFiProtectedSetup).CheckwiththeInternetserviceprovidertoobtaintheexactconnectionparameters
required.

WiFiconnectionproblems
TheARCHOSinternettabletssupportthe802.11b,g,andnWiFiprotocols.Ifyoucannotconnecttoyouraccesspoint,firstdetermineiftheproblemlieswithyour
accesspointorwiththeARCHOS.TryusinganotherWiFidevice,suchasalaptopcomputeroraWiFienabledtelephoneandseeifthatwillconnecttoyouraccess
point.Ifitdoes,thenusethesameWiFiconnectionsettingsthatithasonyourARCHOS.YoucouldalsotryconnectingyourARCHOStoafriend'sWiFinetworkandif
thisworks,changeyouraccesspointparameterstosimilarones.
Possiblesolutions
1.CheckyourWiFirouter/modemdocumentationtoseeifithasapairingbuttonthatneedstobepressed.Somemodemshavesuchabuttonthatmustbepressedthe
veryfirsttimeyoutrytomakeaWiFiconnectionwithanewdevice.
2.Ifyouhavetoenterapassword(asecuritycodeoftypeWEPorWPA)beverycarefulthatyoudonotconfusea1andI(oneandletter“I”),a0andO(zeroand
letter“O”),orUandV.Thesearecommonmistakes.
3.WhenenteringasecuritycodeforyourWiFiaccess,checktheboxShowpasswordwhichwillallowyoutoseeexactlywhatyouaretypingin.Thiswillavoidany
mistakes.
4.SomeaccesspointsusewhatisknownasMACfiltering.Thatmeans,theWiFiaccesspointhasalistofaccessnumbers(everyhardwaredevicehasauniqueMAC
number)whicharetheonlyonesallowedtoaccesstotheWiFipoint.ThepersonmanagingtheWiFimodem/routershouldshutoffthisMACfilteringsystemtoseeifthis
solvestheproblem.ItisrecommendedtoshutoffMACfilteringingeneralasthisisnowknowntobeanoutdatedandineffectivesystemforWiFisecurity.Ifyoumustuse
it,youcanfindyourdevice'sspecificMACaddressbygoingtoSettings>Wireless&Networks>WiFisettings>Menu>Advanced.Itwilllooksomethinglike

5.TrytemporarilyshuttingofftheencryptionsystemofyourWiFirouter/modemtoseeiftheproblemhastodowiththeencryptionsystemyouareusing.Thepreferred
encryptionsystemistheWPA2.

YourARCHOSdeviceisequippedwithaslotonitsbackforthetailormadeARCHOSG93Gstick.OnlytheArchosG93Gstickisdesignedtofitthisslot.Thereisno
compatibilitywithother3Gsticks.NotethattheARCHOSG93Gstickwillonlyhavesignalifyouareinanareacoveredbyyour3Gprovider’s3GorEDGEnetwork.
1. RemovetheArchosG93Gstickcap,andpushtheunmarkedsideofthecasetowardstheplug.
2. InserttheSIMcardintoitsslotandputbackthecase.MakesuretoinserttheSIMcardproperly.
3. Removethemarkedcase“ARCHOS”.
4. OnyourARCHOSdevice,removetheprotectivecoverofthe3Gstickslot.
5. PlugtheArchosG93Gstick.Thedeviceisautomaticallydetected.
6. EnteryourSIMcardpinnumberandtapOK.

Internetnavigation
BeforelaunchinganyapplicationthatneedstomakeaconnectiontotheInternet,makesurethatyouareconnectedtoaWiFinetwork.Youcanuseyourfingerto
scrollthecurrentwebpagehorizontallyorvertically.
Toopenalink,simplytaponit.Toenterawebaddress,justscrolltothetopofthecurrentpageandtapintheaddressfield,entertheaddressandtaponEnter.
Togobacktothepreviouspagethatyoubrowsed,tapontheBackbutton.TogobackdirectlytoyourAndroid™homescreen,tapontheHomebutton.
DoubletaponthescreentozoominandzoomoutorPinch.
Dependingonwhereyouareinthewebbrowser,holdingdownonanitemwillgiveyouaccesstomoreoptions.Forexample,byholdingyourfingeronanimage,you
cansavetheimagefiletoyourdevice.Tofillinatextfield,tapinthefield,thenusethevirtualkeyboardtotypetherequiredinformation.
APPLICATIONS
To get the best multimedia experience on your tablet ARCHOS have replaced the standard Android multimedia apps with the ARCHOS multimedia app suite.
ARCHOS multimedia apps give you the option to browse your music and videos either directly in your folder structure or from the automatically organized
multimedia libraries.
Musicapplication
Themusicplayerapplicationoffersmanyfunctions.
Holddownonanitemortaponthemenuicontodisplaywhatoptionsareavailable.Whenyouleavethemusicplaybackscreenwhileasongisstillplaying,itwillkeep
playinginthebackground.Thisallowsyoutobrowseyourinternalmemory,viewyourphotosorsurftheWebwhilelisteningtomusic.Regardlessofwhatyouaredoing
onyourdevicewhilethemusicisplaying,youwillbeabletoaccessthemusicplaybackscreenfromtherightsideofthesystembar.TaptheMusicsymboltoreveala

BrowsingOtherComputersontheNetwork
IfthereareWindows®computersonyourWiFinetwork,youcanbrowsetheirsharedfolders.MakesureyouhaveaWiFiconnectionandintheapplicationFiles,select
Network/Sharedfolders(SMB).Iftherearecomputersonthesamenetworkthataresharingfolders,thenyouwillseethecomputer'snamehere,andthentheshared
foldersandfilesinside.Youcancopyfilesandfoldersfromthecomputersharingthemandthenpastethemlocallyintoyourdevice.Ifthecomputerwiththesharedfolders
normallyhasaWindows®usernameandpassword,youwillbeaskedtoenterthesebeforeyoucanaccessthefoldercontents.
AccessingsharedmediafilesviaUPnP
WhenyouselectMediaservers(UPnP),youcanonlybrowseandplaymediafilesfrommediaserversonthelocalnetwork,nottransferthem.SeethesectionPlaying

PLAYING YOUR PC’S SHARED MEDIA
Youdon'thavetolimityourselftoplayingonlythevideo,music,andphotofilesthatarestoredonyourdevice.WhenconnectedtoyourhomeWiFinetwork,your
ARCHOSgivesyouthepossibilitytowatch,directlyonyourdevice,thesharedmediafiles(videos,musicorphotos)storedonyourcomputer.Therearetwomainways
to"stream"mediatoyourARCHOSviaWiFi.
MediafromyourPC'ssharedfolders(SMB)
IftherearecomputersonyourWiFinetworkthataresharingfolders,thenyouwillbeabletobrowsethosefoldersandplaywhatevercontentisinthem.Asshowntothe
left,afolderonyourPCthatisbeingsharedhasthehandholdingafoldericon.ToshareafolderonyourPC,rightclickonitandselectSharing.Youcanbrowseallthe
sharedfoldersbyusingtheFilesapplicationonyourARCHOS.Inthefilebrowser,findthegroupExternalandselectSharedfolders(SMB).Thecomputer'snameis
displayed,andthenthesharedfoldersandfilesinsideit.Ifyouhavesharedvideoormusicfiles,youcanaccessthesefoldersdirectlyfromtheVideoapplication(select
SharedFolders(SMB)fromthelistwhenyoufirstopenthevideoplayer)ortheMusicapplication(selecttheiconStorageontherightside).Forphotos,youwillhaveto
usetheFilesapplicationtolocateanddisplayyourphotos.IfthecomputerwiththesharedfoldersnormallyhasaWindows®usernameandpassword,youwillbeasked

TheARCHOSwillsearchonlineforanewfirmware.Ifthereisoneavailable,itwillstartdownloading,anditwillbeinstalledautomatically.Followtheonscreen

    • Dit is ook bij mij het probleem, ook niet meer via de computer. Het lampje flikkert wel, gaat daarna stationair branden maar er gebeurt niets. Na een dag kan ik nog de tablet niet opstarten. Ik heb een klacht/vraag ingediend bij Archos. Ik heb de tablet 4 maanden. Ik neem aan dat hij nog onder de garantie valt. Jammer dat we allemaal nog geen antwoord hebben op deze veel gestelde vraag!     • Onze Archos 80 G9 laadt ook niet meer goed op op deze site staat wel een procedure die kan helpen. Het blijkt dat de Archos aan moet staan om te kunnen laden ... Als de accu te leeg is kan hij niet aan en helpt de lader dus ook niet. Je moet de lader eruit halen, de startknop minimaal 10 seconden ingedrukt houden en dan de lader er op doen en de tablet minimaal 12 uur laten laden en tijdens deze period NIET aan de tablet komen.
      Bij ons helpt het niet maar ik denk dat bij ons de contactpunten niet meer lekker zijn want de laadkabel heeft speling bij het aansluitpunt.

    • Wat mij opvalt is dat iedereen hetzelfde probleem heeft met deze tablet, ik heb hem al weken niet meer kunnen gebruiken.
      Ook het resetten gaat niet meer lukken, daar zit je dan met je dure tablet.

      Een mail sturen naar Archos is ook een probleem aangezien dit niet in Nderland kan.

    • Het is een kwaal die vele bezitters van een Archos tablet hebben maakt niet uit welke Archos Arnova tablet je hebt bij de een valt hij na 1dag al uit de de ander doet er een paarmaanden over maar je komt aan de beurt, het zijn gewoon slechte kwaliteit tablets die eigenlijk niet verkocht zouden mogen worden, zo als een verkoper in een electronica zaak zei ik adviseer mijn klanten om ze niet te kopen vanwege alle oplaad problemen die alle Archos tablets hebben, ook de service is slecht en als je het al voor elkaar heb gekregen om een RMA no: te bemachtigen dan moet je wel de verzendkosten betalen naar het reparatie centrum in Frankrijk om dan vervolgens wekenlang te wachten tot je tablet retour krijgt maar vaak hoor je niks meer en ben je je tablet en de gemaakte kosten kwijt.
      Kortom Archos is een heel onbetrouwbaar bedrijf en ik zal er nimmer meer een tablet kopen. Geantwoord op 23-11-2013 om 16:05

    • Heb dit ook gehad, na 1 dag gaf hij de geest. Klacht indienen bij archos Nederland. Je krijgt dan een mail met daarin de gegevens van archos Frankrijk waar je de tablet toe moet sturen.       In 't begin ging alles heel vlotjes.Na enkele dagen begon tablet heel raar te doen.
      Het scherm veranderde voortdurend zonder dat ik het bediende.Het was alsof die een eigen leven was beginnen leiden.Echt heel raar.Bij het opladen bleef het niveau steken op 10procent.Heb volgende week een nieuw toestel.Ben benieuwd wat dat zal worden.....Groeten.       ook bij muziekfilmpjes gebeurt het vaak dat het liedje ruim voor het einde vast komt te zitten.

    • Let op bij aankopen Archos tablet 101 G9! NIET KOPEN!!
      Na aantal weken kan ie niet goed meer opstarten. Terugzetten firmware lukt ook niet altijd.
      Daarnaast leveren ze slechte service. Helpdesk in Amsterdam kan alleen de tablet opsturen naar Frankrijk. Mijn tablet heeft daar fysieke schade opgelopen en nu willen zij mij geen vervanger geven door Out of Warranty. Daarbij kan helpdesk in Nl niets doen als t in Frankrijk ligt. En met Frankrijk is alleen mailcontact mogelijk In Frankrijk beweren ze nu dat zij het product zo hebben ontvangen.
      Je hebt geen poot meer om op te staan. Voor mij geen Archos meer! Goedkoop = duurkoop. SLECHTE SERVICE!!!! Geantwoord op 2-10-2012 om 12:06
